The water fitness instructors, Shirleen Carmouche, Helen Limjoco, Janet Stumps, and Sue White, gave their classes a new challenge this year. They started the challenge on Feb. 2, Groundhog Day, and ended on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day. The goal was to reach 1,000 participants by March 17. They had a board created by Janet with a rainbow. Each time they reached a 100 participant increment, they wrote the participant’s name on the board and added gold coins (sometimes they even included a 50 participant increment). They exceeded their expectations and reached 1,194 participants!

If you want to join in on water fitness fun, they have a variety of classes that include Zumba, Tabata, cardio, and resistance exercises. Fitness weights are used in all classes.

Water fitness is an excellent lowimpact exercise on the joints and muscles for everyone. The combined benefit of the resistance and buoyancy of the water help relieve the stress on joints and muscles.

The class is held outside through October and moves to the inside pool for the winter months.

Check out the schedule on the PebbleCreek website. Classes are offered five days a week, including an afternoon class on Tuesdays.

Way to go, participants!
