Howie Tiger
For the first time in PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association (PCMGA) history, eight players made holes-in-one during a PCMGA event in one golf season. As a result, they qualified to share in the annual hole-in-one prize.

Gerry Schmelzer—On Feb. 29, Gerry Schmelzer made a hole-in-one on the 8th hole of the Tuscany Falls East course. This was Gerry’s first ever hole-in-one and he does it on the rarest of all days in a Leap Year! He made it while playing in a PCMGA scheduled event.

Congrats to all this year’s ace makers!

Pete Carlson prepares for 2025 by making the last hole-in-one of 2024!
Last Hole-in-One of 2024
Howie Tiger
On Dec. 30, Pete Carlson made a hole-in-one on the 13th hole of the Tuscany Falls East course. He did it while playing in the Rattlers golf group. It was the last hole-in-one made in 2024 at PebbleCreek.
The 13th hole was playing 138 yards from the white tees to a back pin placement. Pete hit his 8-iron with a high trajectory. His playing partners (Clint Hull, Bill Armstrong, and Ed Stadjuhar) thought Pete hit a solid, on-line shot, but did not see it go in. Pete initially thought that maybe his ball was behind the hole in the shadow of the flagstick. When the group arrived at the green, they saw three balls, one of which was deep behind the hole. Pete checked that ball and no go. Then he checked the hole. That’s when he yelled, “It’s in!” Lots of excitement commenced! Clint said, “Being a 4-point hole, we may win this thing” (meaning the Rattler’s group game), and they did!
This was Pete’s second career hole-in-one. His first ace was at the Tualatin Country Club in the Portland, Ore., area.
Pete was born and raised in Oakland, Calif. At age 10, his family moved to Lake Oswego, Ore. He attended the University of Oregon on a full football scholarship. He started and played Defensive Back during his years at Oregon. Upon completion of playing, he transferred to Lewis & Clark College in Portland where he double-majored and earned a teaching degree in U.S. History as well as a business degree.
He dabbled at teaching/coaching for a short time, but then became a sales executive in the freight transportation business. He served in that position at CSX Transportation for 9 years. He then started his own consulting business called Transportation Services NW. He ran that business for 30 years, retiring in 2021.
He and his wife, Laurie, moved to PebbleCreek in 2016.
Congrats on making the last ace of 2024 here in PebbleCreek!

Bill Carpenter
Bill Carpenter Makes Ace

On Dec. 26, 2024, Bill Carpenter made a hole-in-one on the 16th hole of the Tuscany Falls West course. He made it during the final tourney of the 2024 PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association (PCMGA) golf season. This was Bill’s second career hole-in-one. Bill is the eighth and final player to share in the annual hole-in-one prize.
The 16th hole was playing 121 yards from the white tees to a front left pin placement. Bill had been playing the Blue/White tee combo while his playing partners (Reuben Rivera, Kurt Eleam, and Kent Becraft) played the blue tees. While his partners finished teeing off from the blue tees, Bill proceeded to hit his 9-iron with a medium trajectory into a slight right to left breeze. Bill yelled, “I think it went in!” His partners did not see his shot. Reuben was the first to arrive at the green. He checked the hole and gave Bill a “thumbs-up” confirming his hole-in-one. The celebration commenced. Bill probably did not know at that moment that he had just cut into Reuben’s share of the annual prize.
Bill’s first hole-in-one came in 2004 at the Foothills Golf Course in Lakewood, Colo. That one was also a 9-iron shot from nearly the same exact yardage as this one, 119 yards. He has played golf for 50 years. His dad taught him how to play golf. He grew up playing on oil-sanded greens at the Evergreen Golf Course in Evergreen, Colo. He recalls smoothing out the greens with a metal bar before hitting any putt.
Bill grew up in Idaho Springs, Colo., a small town of 3,000. He attended a trade school that trained him to be an electrician. He secured his license as a Journeyman Electrician. He spent 15 years doing residential and commercial electrical work. He spent the next 29 years with a mechanical electrical consulting firm doing construction administration. It involved verifying that the work met the specifications designed by the engineers.
He retired in 2021. Then, he and his wife, Sharon, a medical transcriptionist, moved to PebbleCreek.
Congrats on making the perfect shot! It’s debatable if the other seven hole-in-one winners are that thrilled!

Chris Gourley
Congrats, Chris Gourley!
On Feb. 10, Chris Gourley made a hole-in-one on hole number 8 on the Tuscany East course. Chris is a member of the Verde Laners and the hole-in-one was witnessed by Terry Cavanaugh, Jerry McFarlane, and Steve Schwartz.

Terri Coats
First Hole Ace for Terri Coats!
On Monday, Feb. 3, Terri Coats made a hole–in–one on West hole 5, the first hole in the shotgun for her foursome. The pin was 129 yards out, and Terri used her 9 wood to sink the ace. Terri was playing with Vicki McLaughlin, Trish Watkins, and Kearin Kasper, all part of the “Chatty Chippers” Monday golf group. This was Terri’s second career HIO; her first in 2013 was at Lakewood Oaks Country Club in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Congratulations to Terri!

First Ace for Judy!
Carole Schumacher
Judy Garcia got her first hole-in-one on Jan. 16, 2025, at Eagle’s Nest on hole number 8 during a casual round of golf with playing partners Sally Babbitt, Ann Page, and Wendy Turriff. The hole measured 139 yards from the white tees with a yellow flag protecting the hole.
“All four players watched the drive off the tee, the bounce right before the green, a roll up to the back, a right turn, and the drop into the hole,” said Judy. “It was great!”
Following the round of golf, the ladies celebrated in the lounge with soda, tea, and lunch.
Judy has been golfing since 2010 and moved to PebbleCreek from Melbourne Beach, Fla. She is a member of the PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA); however, had not previously donated the $5 (per year) to be a part of the PCLGA Hole-In-One Club. The reward for the annual donation is $100 for any hole-in-one made at any of the three PebbleCreek courses witnessed by at least one person during the fiscal year.
Following her celebrations with friends, Judy went home and added $5 for future PCLGA aces!
Congratulations, Judy—and best wishes for another one soon to take advantage of the $5 donation!

Linda Nathan celebrates her third hole-in-one!
Linda Nathan Is Magical on Tuscany Falls East!
Carole Schumacher
Linda Nathan got her third “career” hole-in-one on Jan. 17, 2025, at Tuscany Falls East (TFE) on hole number 13 during casual play with Darleen Lockhart and Kristine Kincaid. She aced the #8 hole on TFE just 13 months ago!
The 13th hole measured 137 yards and Linda’s 8 hybrid was the magical club for the day.
“It was a high shot heading for the hole and Darlene thought it went in. Since the pin was in the back, we didn’t know for sure until we got there,” said Linda.
We took some photos to celebrate and continued the celebration with drinks and snacks at the Tavern following golf. Cindy Sota and Nina Coulombe were playing one hole behind us and joined in the celebrations.
Linda and her husband, Larry, have lived in PebbleCreek for almost four years and she has been a member of the PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) since they moved here. Her first HIO was at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills, Calif., in January 2019.
Congratulations Linda on mastering two of the par threes at Tuscany Falls East!
