Julius was rescued on Dec. 11, 2024, on Sheila Lane in Tuscany Falls, by a resident who found him while walking her dog. He was approximately 3 months old. He had obviously been someone’s pet as he had known love from people, and we believe he was abandoned. He was named Julius in honor of his vibrant orange color. Anyone who remembers going to a mall in the 1970s and 1980s will remember the Orange Julius stores.
Once rescued, the Pet Companions Club got him his shots and his neuter procedure. He was a big cuddle bug and very, very vocal. Lots of meows. He was fostered by Sue Ann Olsavicky, who has been rescuing cats in PebbleCreek for many years. His favorite toys were foil crinkle balls, and he was very good at playing fetch. He has found his forever home in PebbleCreek where he will be a pampered house cat and is now known as Rusty.
Did you know that 80% of orange tabbies are male? Orange cats also have a reputation for some crazy antics. We can’t wait to see if Julius/Rusty holds true to that.
Julius/Rusty is a great example of why it is critical for homeowners to notify us if they see a stray cat or kitten. He was too young to survive on his own. We ask all residents to understand that cats and kittens seen in our community do not belong to your neighbors who have let them outside. They are either abandoned and in need of rescue, or they are feral and need to be spayed or neutered to prevent them from adding to the population of cats. If you see a stray cat or kitten, please contact Sue Ann Olsavicky or Mary O’Neill, and we will do our best to rescue them.
The Pet Companions Club needs donations to pay the veterinarian bills for our rescued cats and dogs. We have recently made it easier to donate to us by adding Zelle as an option. You can send us a donation through Zelle at [email protected]m, or send us a check by mail to The Pet Companions Club of PebbleCreek, PO Box 6106, Goodyear, AZ, 85338-0619.
