At their February meeting, PebbleCreek Democratic Club members welcomed Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes back to the club. Secretary Fontes has visited the club several times over the past few years as club members have worked hard to elect him first as County Recorder and then Secretary of State in 2022. He is a dynamic and passionate speaker who continues to inspire and advise on the state of both Arizona and our country. He is frequently invited on local and cable news to give commentary on current affairs.
Secretary Fontes informed us that he has been appointed to chair the Democratic group of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) by his peers. As Chairman he will oversee efforts to get Democratic Secretaries of State elected or re-elected in November 2026, which includes fundraising. Secretaries from all over the country are working together to organize their efforts to support each other and their respective states.
Secretary Fontes had much to say about the current political situation and was adamant that all Democrats need to make great efforts to be informed of the facts about the issues important not only to Arizona, but to the country. He believes that information and understanding and facts are the necessary tools to bring to the fight for democracy. He was able to impart many ways to become informed and had many ideas about how to implement them.
There was time left for club members to ask questions which Secretary Fontes answered enthusiastically. The audience thanked the Secretary for his time, advice, and enthusiasm with a standing ovation.
The PebbleCreek Democratic Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Our meetings are open and all are welcome.
