At the first council meeting of 2025, longtime Goodyear City Councilmember Wally Campbell was appointed by council as the next vice mayor. This year marks her 14th year on city council. She joined in 2011 to complete the term of another councilmember and was elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 and 2022.
“I am honored to serve our city in this position,” said Vice Mayor Wally Campbell. “I look forward to the growth our city will continue to experience and working through any challenges that we face this coming year.”
Vice Mayor Campbell has received numerous awards and recognitions over the years for her leadership and community work, including the 2024 West Valley Women Networking Association Woman of the Year award and the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Elected Official for 2022.
She is active in the community and represents Goodyear on national, state, and local levels. She is a founding member of the Friends of the Library—Goodyear Branch and serves as its president. She is also serving her 16th year as chair of the PebbleCreek Home and Garden Tour, which raises money for the Goodyear Police Department’s Annual Shop with a Cop program and Goodyear’s Fill-A-Need program.
Vice Mayor Campbell also serves on the Southwest Valley Business/Education Advisory Committee; the All Faith Community Services Board of Directors; the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; the Historic Litchfield Station Foundation as director and founder; and is a member of the West Valley Human Services Alliance and the Hope Community Services Board of Directors.
She also serves as the immediate past chair of the Maricopa Association of Governments Human Services Committee and Community Initiatives Committee; is a member of the Maricopa Association of Governments Public Safety and Military Affairs Committee; and a member of the Advisory Board of the National League of Cities. She has served as a past chair of the Military Communities Council; as well as a past chair of Women in Municipal Government Constituency group; and is a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Services Committee. Vice Mayor Campbell has also recently been appointed to lead the First Tier Suburbs Council and appointed to the Valley Metro RPTA Board of Directors.
Vice Mayor Campbell has resided in PebbleCreek for the past 24 years.
