Another overflow event for the now 800+ member PebbleCreek Republican Club was held on Oct. 3, as members and guests came to hear candidate for Board of Supervisors Debbie Lesko and April Smith, of AZ Free Enterprise Club, who presented a detailed explanation of the ballot propositions that will appear on our November ballot.
During the business meeting, elections were held, and Patricia Moore was unanimously reelected president and Barbara Kamm was similarly elected as treasurer of our organization for the next two years. Thank you for your service! During the 50/50, Bob McCoy returned his winnings to the club for the veterans fund and also won the veteran’s fund auction for a MAGA hat. Esteemed guests included Mayor Joe Pizzillo, Agua Fria Governing Board members Trey Terry and Eric Cultum, and Rene Taylor, who represented her husband James Taylor, candidate for the state House of Representatives.
Honored guest Debbie Lesko spoke about her six years as a U.S. Congresswoman and why she decided to come home and run for the open position on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors from our district. These supervisors determine taxes to be levied as well as overseeing the delivery of municipal services including roads, parks, libraries, voting, and law enforcement. More importantly, they oversee elections and conduct an independent audit. The Board of Supervisors work to ensure we have a smooth, fair, open, and transparent election process. Another responsibility is to make sure the County’s Sheriff’s Office and County Attorney’s Office have the resources they need to efficiently run their departments.
Our second speaker was April Smith with the AZ Free Enterprise Club. The purpose of the organization is to stand up to powerful politicians and special interest groups to ensure they are representing the will of the people of Arizona. The club feels they have a unified voice that promotes economic freedom and prosperity. April presented the pros and cons of all the upcoming propositions that will be on the November ballot. She also introduced us to Request to Speak; a grassroots effort to stay up to date on the latest battles against big government and how you can help influence crucial bills at the Arizona State Legislature.
