On Monday, November 16 the seventh annual Marilynn Smith LPGA Charity Pro Am will be played on the Tuscany Falls Course. Each team competing in the 8:00 a.m. shotgun scramble will feature one of 40 LPGA professionals playing with four men/women amateurs. The proceeds go to the Marilynn Smith Scholarship Fund to help young women attend college. Last year’s event raised over $150,000. Twenty $5,000 scholarships were awarded.
This year’s special honoree is World Golf Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez, a winner of 48 LPGA tour events including three major championships. LPGA co-founder Shirley Spork, Hall of Famer Betsy King, TV golf analyst Jane Crafter, former U.S. Open champion Susie Berning and LPGA tournament winners Sherri Turner and Shelley Hamlin will also participate.
The $250 entry fee includes golf with an LPGA Pro, breakfast on the run, buffet luncheon and a goodie bag containing a shirt, golf balls and other useful gifts. For those not playing, but wanting to attend the luncheon, the cost is $30. Nancy Lopez is scheduled to speak.
Autographed memorabilia and other collectibles will be auctioned off (silent and live). Auction items will be on display in the Tuscany Ballroom before and during lunch.
Fabulous prizes will be raffled off. First prize is a Rolex watch. Second prize is your choice of a cruise to the Bahamas, Mexico or the Western Caribbean. Third prize is a Ping driver. Raffle tickets are available now by calling Marilynn; one for $10, three for $25 and seven for $50.
