Glass Arts Club Spotlight: Dan and Peggy Mitchell

Peggy and Dan Mitchell

Kitty Kowalczyk

Dan and Peggy Mitchell’s careers were in the St. Louis area, Dan as an architect and partner in a firm, and Peggy as a dental hygienist. They raised their two boys in St. Louis and in their summer log home in Colorado. They moved to PebbleCreek as snowbirds in April 2023, downsizing their summer log home to a condo in Denver.

Peggy has always enjoyed the arts, throwing pottery and working in ceramics for over 25 years. She took a class in glass fusing in Denver and was hooked, preferring to make jewelry and other small projects that she could fire in her personal small kiln. Since joining Glass Arts, she creates bigger projects and is pictured with one of her garden stakes.

Dan has always been interested in design and is one of a very small percentage of people that can visualize projects in 3D, which served him well as an architect. He started painting once moving to PebbleCreek, acrylic being his medium of choice. Peggy joined him when he took a beginning glass fusion class and he hit the ground running. His designs are wonderful and he’s even taught some veteran glass artists a thing or two! He is also very willing to help out in the glass studio.

Check out the Expressions Gallery and our glass display window for some of their work.
