On July 4, 72 of our PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) members gathered for our annual July 4th Tournament at our Eagle’s Nest front-nine course utilizing a scramble format. Traditionally our members were to wear their best July 4th Independence Day patriotic golf attire. Many of our members showed up in terrific golf outfits with three of our members—Steve Schwartz, Cliff Crooks, and Mike Mealer—awarded prizes for wearing the top three “Best Dressed” golf attire.

Our 18 foursomes proceeded to tee off at 7:30 a.m. in the scramble format, in which the team net score based upon the best drive for each team member was utilized for each stroke from the initial drive to the final putt. For the nine holes, at least one team member’s drive was required to be utilized and to make things a tad more intriguing, each team’s worst scores for three holes were discarded in the computation of the net team scores for all foursomes. Likewise, each team was required to alternate in teeing off from the Blue tee first, then White, and finally Red Tee initial drive locations, for example the starting foursome off hole 1 would tee off on Blue, and then White tees on hole 2 and then Red tees on hole 3.

The competition was per usual incredibly close with only eight strokes separating the winning foursome from the last place team and also a host of team Birdies occurred.

Kudos to the first-place team consisting of Keith Anolick, Mike Adkins, Duane Scott, and Bill Wagner scoring a Net 31.
