Chanca Morrell, A Renaissance Woman

Jack Miller

PebbleCreek Voices recently interviewed resident Chanca Morrell who stays very busy contributing to our community. She has held several positions as a PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) member, including president of the PebbleCreek ladies’ 18-hole golf group. She’s a valuable member of Showtime as a performer, and she has also written and directed six shows, the most recent being The Beat Goes On. Chanca is also active in her church where she’s been a board member, and she recently served on the pastor search committee.

Chanca grew up in Indiana, and at the age of 16 she became interested in computers. You will hear how she entered the male-dominated technology field, successfully worked her way up, and “loved” her work. During the 30+-minute interview she walks us through her career, which highlights her talent, tenacity, grit, and winning attitude. After meeting and marrying her husband, Clark, she moved from the Midwest to Arizona, where she worked for American Express for 25 years until she retired.

The interview shifts focus at this point as Chanca discusses the importance of individuals pre-planning their funerals, a topic especially relevant for most PebbleCreek residents. She shares a very personal chapter of her life when two people she dearly loved died suddenly: first her husband, Clark, and four years later, her mother. During the interview, you will learn the importance of pre-planning, and you will gain information about the pre-planning process that will be helpful for your family.
