The PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) held an Odd/Even Tournament on May 23 at Tuscany Falls West. Seventy-two PCM9GA eager participants utilized the Odd/Even net scoring format where the score for each foursome was compiled based upon two team member net scores for even numbered holes and three team member net scores for off number holes. As per usual, net scores for each golfer were compiled on the basis of each golfer’s prevailing established AGA Handicaps and was assigned POPS with lower handicapped golfers typically benefiting from zero POPS. Higher handicapped golfers were assigned up to two POPS for more challenging holes.
Our PebbleCreek Golf Operations allocated considerable funding for totally refurbishing the turf for our Tuscany Falls West 18 holes with an innovative turf variety that apparently does not require winter overseeding. Fortunately, the turf for Tuscany West finally is in quite good shape, but many of our golfers in this tournament commented on the unpredictably and inconsistency of the greens that affected many of us.
This tournament net score team results were extremely tight with just three strokes separating the first and second place teams winners. In fact, two teams tied for third place followed by three teams tied for fourth place. Kudos to the first-place foursome scoring a most impressive net score of 78, 12 under par, which consisted of Peter Herman, Joe Oliver, Kerry Walsh, and Bill Wagner. Just three strokes behind were the second place foursome, total net score of 81, which consisted of Mark Eichkorn, Gregory Ray, Richard Oehmann, and Ray Dombrowski. Several players reported Birdies and interestingly enough, the first-place team with their outstanding net -12 team score alone scored Birdies on two of their holes.
