The PebbleCreek Quilters (PCQ) organization held a class in creating fabric hexagons, which are called “hexies.” The process to create a hexie is English paper piecing. Each hexagon is made by wrapping a piece of fabric around a six-sided shape made of paper, basted, and then sewn to another hexie. Creating hexies dates back to England in 1770. The pattern was published in 1835 in “Godey’s Magazine and Lady’s Book,” a popular women’s publication and most widely circulated magazine before the Civil War. Karen McCarty taught the Hexies Class. Thank you, Karen, for your time and sharing your talent.
