On a warm but pleasant April 23 afternoon, close to 100 PCM9GA ever enthusiastic golfers teed off utilizing both our Eagle’s Nest front and back nine courses.
For this event, a quite fascinating and intriguing Four Club Scramble format was utilized which mandated that golfers could bring no more than four clubs in their bag, period or face a forfeit elimination prior to teeing off. It was quite amazing to see just how many four club combinations were utilized. Most golfers brought along their putter (a few used a hybrid for putting) and some golfers elected to utilize a number 3 or 4 hybrid in lieu of a driver and a wide variety of irons were utilized. Likewise most of our PCM9GA golfers brought along a sand wedge or pitching wedge as part of their four club combination. Other than the four club rule, all aspects of the Scramble format prevailed including the requirement for two drives to be used from each golfer and, of course, the best team member drive from each golfer was utilized as well as succeeding shots through the final putt stroke. One interesting benefit of the four club format is that it typically sped up the play with fewer clubs to make a selection choice for each stroke.
As incredible as it may seem, for the Eagle’s Nest back nine, three foursomes came in with identical net 36 scores and likewise for the front nine, two teams attained a net 35 and the runner-up two foursomes scored a net 36.
