LLL seeks teachers for coming season
Mary Gangl
Classes offered through LifeLong Learning in PebbleCreek are always interesting, thought provoking and fun, particularly when they’re taught by fellow PebbleCreek residents. Our classes are very popular, so popular that we often need to create a waiting list.
Classes have ranged from Astrology and Memoir Writing to Hinduism and Dream Interpretation and we’re always looking for people who love to teach and share their joy in various areas. In the coming year we hope to expand this year’s offering of 18 classes so we can reach even more residents who want to continue learning.
Specifically we are seeking the following: Art and Music Appreciation/History, Cell Phone Use (able to teach Android and/or IOS in two separate classes), Social Media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest etc.), Conversational Italian, Spanish or French (no more than a five week session), American History, World History and areas of Science. If this is something that interests you, or you know someone who can do this (they do not have to live in PebbleCreek), please contact Mary Gangl at 623-236-9613 or email [email protected].
Cinema Society to return for second season
After a successful inaugural season, the organizers of the Cinema Society of PebbleCreek have already reserved the Renaissance Theatre for six dates from November through March. With the growing popularity of this program, members who wish to renew for the coming season are urged to purchase their subscriptions when sales begin on October 1.
This year’s members are urged to keep their lanyard and pass to use when they purchase a subscription to next year’s season, which begins on Thursday, November 5. Memberships will be sold on the LifeLong Learning website, anywhere LifeLong Learning sells tickets and at the Activities Office.
The society was brought to PebbleCreek by Andrew Friedenberg who started more than 30 years ago with a Cinema Society in San Diego. It has since expanded to Las Vegas, Scottsdale, the West Valley in Surprise and PebbleCreek. Friedenberg introduces each film and then leads a discussion about it afterwards. Often he brings a person from the movie industry with him to impart insider information about the film.
So watch your emails for an announcement about when tickets will be sold and mark your calendar now for the following Thursdays: November 5, December 17, January 28, February 11, March 10 and April 7.
