For those of you who leave PebbleCreek for extended periods of time, here are a few things to consider before you go.
* Shut off the water.
* Have mail forwarded or held, if desired.
* Arrange for someone to care for your yard.
* Contact a friend, neighbor, or a company to stop by your home and check to make sure everything is as it should be.
* Flush toilets, run water in the sinks, showers, etc., to keep O-rings from drying out.
* Notify neighbors, if desired, of your absence and leave a phone number where they can reach you in case of an emergency related to your home.
* Adjust your thermostat according to the time of year you will be away.
* Check the light bulb in your address sign to ensure it is working before you go, and replace if necessary.
* Forward your home phone so calls come to your cell phone or an alternate home phone, if possible.
* Notify Patrol of your absence so they can update the system. Let them know of anyone you anticipate entering the gate to arrive at your home while you are away (landscapers, family or friends coming to stay while you are away, etc.) and they will have your contact number in case of an emergency.
* Check your drips to ensure all caps are on and everything is in working order.
* Take in patio chair cushions, furniture, or cover them.
* Clean out the refrigerator and check your cupboards or bins for any food that will spoil (potatoes, onions, etc.).
* Contact your insurance company and adjust coverage on vehicle(s), if allowed.
* Take your PebbleCreek Source Book with you.
On your return:
* Check the air pressure in your car tires.
* See list above for the things you need to “undo.”
* Relax and enjoy your home, friends, and all the comforts of PebbleCreek.
