The Irish-American Club enjoyed more social events last month and will wrap up the season in May. Susan Kice organized the annual Pub Lunch for over thirty club members. This year it was at the Irish Wolfhound on Litchfield Road. The next day members and guests joined the Italian American Club on April 13 for a Day at the Races.
The fifth benefit dinner of the season was hosted by Terry and Greg Roth, assisted by Carole and Wayne Garrett, on April 19. Forty members enjoyed a delicious dinner, good company and some Irish themed fun on a lovely night. The club has raised almost $2,000 for the Agua Fria Food Bank by these dinners this season.
The club’s annual meeting was on April 14. Elections were held for Board positions, with President John Pugsley and Secretary Judi Rizzetto returning for another year. We gave a big thank you to retiring Board members Anne Engels, Tim Coogan and Nancy Gustafson. The other positions were not decided as of this writing but will be announced later. Representatives of the New Life Center, the Southwest Lending Closet and the Agua Fria Food Bank were present to thank the IAC for their support this year. There was also discussion of a trip to Ireland in September 2016.
The 2014-15 season will close on May 6 with a potluck hosted by Marie Marlier. Then we will say Slan do gach go dtl Mean Fomhair (Farewell to all until September). Note: you don’t have to speak or read Gaelic to join the IAC. The Irish-American Club is open to all PCers. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month, October through May, in the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse. In the summer various members host a casual get-together on the second Tuesdays at their homes. Contact Judi Rizzetto or John Pugsley for more information.
