Family History: One Branch at a Time—a Case Study

Monday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m.

Kathleen Ackerman will present a case study on how to do your research! She will outline digital resources and techniques for us. Kathleen has her own genealogy business and received a Bachelor of General Studies: Family History degree from Brigham Young University in April 2012. In June of 2022, she finished her master’s thesis through the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Her specialties are English and Scottish research and paleography. Please join us!

Our September speaker was Duane Roen, Professor Emeritus at the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts at Arizona State University. Have you thought about tracing your family’s history but don’t know where to begin? His topic was “Getting Started with Family History Research.” He provided us with the first steps of research, general search/digital tools, family history sites to explore, cemetery locator sites, and print resources such as books to assist us in our research. Thank you, Duane!

The meeting was well-attended. Members received a copy of his presentation.
