Canadian residents recently participated in their second annual Street Hockey game, including both Canadian and American players. Pre-game the Canadian and American anthems were sung and they had their own “Zamboni” cleaning.
In December 2017, the inaugural game was held, involving Team Malette and Team De Simone and had a total of 11 players with two homes on W. Granada participating.
This past December 31, the second annual game was held, and to quote Rick Malette, “It was a blast!”
Eight homes from W. Granada participated. Including players and fans, 28 were in attendance with the same two teams battling it out.
Team De Simone prevailed. After a tie score of 10-10, the game was decided in an extended shoot out that took 10 players from both sides.
Special “props” included the “Hanson Brothers” who showed up for a special brawl and a lookalike Don Cherry who came for the Coaches Corner during the final intermission.
