The 2022 Arizona Golf Association (AGA) State Medallion Tournament was held Jan. 16 at Oakwood Golf Course in Sun Lakes. Entrants in the State Medallion Tournament are the winners of the low gross and low net prizes for play during the previous year in their local club (PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association). The format was two-person individual stroke play, with the team score being the total of the gross player’s gross score and the net player’s net score.
This year’s PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association gross representative was Kathy Hubert-Wyss, and the net representative was the amazing Mary Coon. The golf course was in good shape and the field was strong. Kathy and Mary played well and had a great day of golf.
At the luncheon, the AGA recognized Mary for her age, 93, and for how many times she has shot her age. In the last four years, she has shot her age seven times, with the latest being last March when she shot a 92. Mary was given a certificate for that latest accomplishment, along with a standing ovation. Congratulations, Mary!
