On March 22 and 23 the PCAC held its seventh annual spring art event. In the gallery style setting, over 110 pieces of fine art were presented. Three Arizona artists were on hand to judge the work of participants and they praised the talent of artists who are members of the club.
The judges, Debra Goley, Elizabeth Kenyon and Karen Budan recognized the following with appropriate ribbons; The “Judges’ Choice” ribbon went to Thula Edwards for her sculpture titled Standing Watch, Professional Award and People’s Choice ribbon went to Kathy Sork for her piece titled Songbird. In the Oils category 1st place, Vivian Kramer; 2nd Anitha Melin-McDonald; 3rd, Candis Kloverstrom and Honorable Mention to Marian Carew. Acrylic painting, 1st, Peggy Richardson; 2nd, Carol Collins; 3rd, Betty Jean Kennedy and Sylvia Armstrong received Honorable Mention. For Watercolor category, Kathy Sork, 1st; Kathy Craig 2nd; Hilary V. Ficus, 3rd and Honorable Mention was given to Sheril Symonds. Gail McCabe received a 1st place ribbon for her Colored Pencil. In Pastel medium 1st place went to Elizabeth McCarthy with Nancy Stifter securing 2nd place. Mixed medium 1st place went to Linda Strauss-Lewis; Drawing to Gary Kotula and David Kiesling was awarded 1st place for his photography.
The PC Art Club will now begin organizing and preparing for their Fall Show, with artists working over the summer to create the next wave of wonderful art to be displayed. Be on the lookout for dates, time and place of the PCAC Fall Show, you won’t want to miss it!
