Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord has announced that Carolyn Rota, a PebbleCreek resident since 2003, is the recipient of the city’s Citizen of the Year Award for 2015. In a proclamation delivered following the State of the City address on Tuesday evening, Ms. Rota was recognized for her numerous and varied volunteer activities, including celebration of Armed Services Day and organizing the PebbleCreek Veterans Day Parade. “Carolyn’s generous and selfless efforts to recognize and celebrate the city’s veteran community have made a difference in the lives of others,” declared the Mayor.
Ms. Rota said she was most proud of her work on the Veterans Day Parade, for which she was named PebbleCreek’s 2011 Volunteer of the Year. Mayor Lord called Ms. Rota a “proud and tireless advocate for our residents, for our city and especially for those who have served us in the armed forces.” Ms. Rota expressed her sincere appreciation for the honor and continued support for the city, adding, “I do believe that for a city to grow and prosper it needs all its citizens to help with that growth and prosperity.”
The Citizen of the Year Award is given to a resident annually in recognition of outstanding service to the community. Recipients are nominated by members of the City Council and selected by the Mayor.
