Fellow PebbleCreek and Goodyear golfers, all golfers are invited to participate.
The PebbleCreek Irish American Club is hosting the 13th annual Charity Golf Tournament, which is taking place March 12 and 13. In these challenging times, we are asking for your help and support in order to run an enjoyable and financially successful event. This year has been a challenge for everyone, including the charities and scholars we support; therefore, we are asking all of you for your support in this fundraising event again this year.
Student Scholarships Awarded: Millennium High School
One of the goals of the club is to raise funds for student scholarships and community nonprofit organizations in the Goodyear community. Last spring, the Charitable Contributions Committee interviewed Millennium High School student applicants via Zoom and awarded six students scholarships totaling $8,000.
Charitable Contributions
The Charitable Contributions Committee members did research on several nonprofit organizations in Goodyear and chose the following to support last year.
Meals of Joy: This organization was founded in 2014 to address the needs of the many seniors in the Goodyear area who may be unable to prepare meals due to poor health, or those who cannot drive to get their own food. Meals of Joy now delivers fresh, ready-to-eat meals five days a week to those in need. Meals are delivered directly to seniors by friendly, helpful volunteers.
Mission of Mercy: Their Mission is to restore dignity and “Healing through Love” by providing free healthcare. Their services provide health care and prescription drugs. Mission of Mercy-Arizona offers a wide range of services for their patients, from medical treatment to diagnostic and prescription services to uninsured and underinsured local people at no cost. There are nearly 200 volunteer physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other medical personnel donating their time and talents. Collaborative relationships with local hospitals and other specialty care providers enable patients to receive additional no-cost medical care, including lab tests and X-rays.
Each charity received $8,000. The Irish Cultural Center in Phoenix also received $1,000.
We hope this year’s golf tournament will equal or surpass last year’s level of donation and participation dollars so the club can continue to support worthy student scholars and community nonprofit organizations in Goodyear.
Our goal is to have over 272 golfers participate in either the nine-hole or 18-hole event. We hope you will participate, either as a golfer or as a volunteer.
