The past year has been a challenge for everyone. Our country, and the world, has been thrust into a new reality where our very core values, our way of life, our beliefs, and our peaceful interactions with our fellow man have been tested.
Not so long ago, a young man from Atlanta, Ga. found himself navigating the turmoil of his time; his name was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King was first a man of God, husband, father of four young children, an advocate of the Civil Rights Movement, and a man of peace. His voice gave rise to the injustices of his time and leadership to a disenfranchised segment of America. He galvanized men and women of different races, religions, and cultures to join together in the common cause of freedom and justice for the oppressed. He became an inspiration for change, not only in America, but around the world.
Just Folks Association of PebbleCreek is pleased to announce the 10th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. This year’s theme is “Where Do We Go From Here” and highlights the life and legacy of Dr. King. Join us for a very entertaining program featuring a dynamic interpretive dance by the EMCC Dance Troupe, poetry, and engaging musical performances. Our speaker is the Rev. Anita Braden, Canon to the Ordinary, from Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Diocese of Phoenix.
This year’s program will be aired via LifeLong Learning’s (LLL) Zoom broadcast, and it’s free. Registration is required and is limited to 100 participants. Save the date, go to the LLL website and sign up early.
