Pet of The Month

Jim Ellison

My new name is “Big Mac” and I will be spending Christmas in m.ery first forever home with my new mom, Jean Dean, on 162nd Avenue. My past life is one I would like to forget.

A kind stranger found me wandering the Phoenix streets with raw, painful burns from someone pouring acid all over my legs and stomach. I was starving, severely burned, infected and a stray. This kind man took me to the county Humane Society where I stayed for six months.

As my wounds were healing, they tried to find someone who would adopt me, but I was too big and too badly scarred. You see, I am half mastiff and half bulldog and I weigh 150 pounds. A small shelter called Arizona Adoptions heard I needed help, so they took me from the county shelter where my time had expired and continued my painful healing treatments. After spending 18 months confined in shelters, my mom and new family found me on the internet and came to my rescue. They think I’m perfect!

You will not see me on daily walks, as my legs are too fragile, but please know I am now the happiest dog you have ever seen. I am now house-trained and have learned (most of the time) not to bark at the many golfers who share “my backyard.”

I wish everyone “a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays.” I know for sure that this will be my very best..
