The PebbleCreek Republican Club welcomed members and invited guests to the Thursday, January 3 meeting in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Social time began at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting following at 7:00 p.m.

President Linda Migliore thanked all the people who donated gifts to Luke’s Operation Thunderbird “Adopt a family for Christmas.” A big thank you was also given to the members who wrapped and delivered the gifts.

The evening’s program was one of the best ever, with dynamic speakers presenting excellent current information on Maricopa County. The first speaker was Lynndy Smith, Outreach Director for US Congresswoman Debbie Lesko. She gave a comprehensive synopsis of Debbie Lesko’s considerable work to date in her very new position and her continuing close contact with her constituents, which we all appreciate.

The second speaker was Colonel Frank L. Milstead, State Trooper and Public Safety Director, an energetic leader and past Mesa Chief of Police and Phoenix Policeman holding many high-profile positions. His duties and responsibilities are many-fold and he presented an excellent picture of the many facets of his job to ensure citizen safety.

The third speaker was Bill Montgomery, Maricopa County Attorney. Bill Montgomery’s friends and political backers characterize the Maricopa County attorney as a principled family man who cares not just about law and order, but about justice. Nationally recognized for innovative victim services programs, he is also recognized as a national leader in focusing on community relationships and the use of technology to improve office performances. He earned his J.D. from ASU, graduating Magna Cum Laude and receiving the Order of the Coif. As a West Point graduate and decorated Gulf War veteran, he has dedicated his personal and professional life to serving others.

Mr. Montgomery’s presentation gave an excellent overview of the many departments working together devoted to service to the people of Maricopa County and the oversight in assuring their safety.

The feeling, coming away from the meeting, was how fortunate we are to be in such good hands.
