In 2014 Cathy Howell accepted the challenge of creating an Opportunity Quilt that the club could use to sell raffle tickets at various venues during the year. The funds received from these sales are used to finance the making of Charity Quilts. Cathy chose a design called Smokey River.

The drawing was held for this quilt at the Christmas Luncheon of the club on December 8 and the lucky winner is Nancy Giebel, a member of the club.

Nancy has been a member of PCQ for approximately 10 years. She has sewn for many years and continues to work part time. She has two daughters and one son and is a widow. Currently she is the club historian.

Nancy says that the talent in PCQ is unbelievable and quite amazing. She was completely surprised and delighted to be the receiver of the 2014 Opportunity Quilt.
