We had a perfect day on March 12 for the 216 golfers who participated in our eighth annual PebbleCreek Irish American Club Charitable Golf Outing. 144 golfers played in our 18-hole two best ball format and 72 golfers played in our 9-hole Step Aside Scramble. Cash prizes were awarded to the low net men’s, women’s and mixed foursome in each format. Trophy winners in the 18-hole Best Ball event were Gene Howard, Bill Baxter, Pat Howard and Cherri Baxter. Trophy winners in the 9-hole Step Aside Scramble were June Flynn, Rosie Richman, Carol Collins and Janet Veidt. There were also numerous men and women winners in various contest hole competitions (closest to pin and closest to line).
Especially fun was the “Wearin O’ the Green” competition which just about all golfers participated in. It was fun seeing what everyone was wearing! Three groups were awarded prizes for their creative outfits.
The food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed tender and juicy corned beef and turkey breast with potatoes, sauerkraut, bread and delectable desserts. Having two buffet lines with servers allowed all of our attendees to enjoy a nice hot lunch after finishing their rounds of golf.
Plus, it’s all about raising money for our charities, the New Life Center, the SW Lending Closet, and a High School Scholarship. We’ll know the final tally in several days, but all indications are that it was a record outing and will be a record contribution to our charities.
