The PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association conducted its annual Summer Sizzler tournament on Wednesday, July 27 and Thursday, July 28. The temperatures this summer have been unusually high for June and July ranging between 110 to almost 120 degrees for long stretches making the name for this two-day competition an accurate one. The format was individual stroke play with gross and net winners. The event also featured a skins game for each day. The first round was played at Eagle’s Nest and the final round at Tuscany Falls (Falls/Palms courses).

Sixty-one players participated and survived the heat. Some great scores were posted including a four-under par gross score of 140 (70-70) by Wayne Gearig and a three-under par gross score of 141 (73-68) by Bill McKinney.

Players in Flights One, Two and Three teed it up on the blue tees and players in Flight Four played from the white tees. There were numerous Skins winners, but the big Skins winners were Eric Lee and David Flynn as there was only one gross skin and one net skin in Flight Two for Thursday’s round.

Flight 1 – First place Wayne Gearig (140), second place Steve Straley (151)

Flight 2 – First place George Clark (157), second place Lou Romano (162)
