PC Singles ask, “What Monsoon?” after emerging from comedy club

Pat Milich

On the evening of Thursday, August 2 a huge yellow cloud of dust, along with high winds and monsoon rains, descended upon the West Valley. There was little warning and many were caught by surprise as Mother Nature randomly toppled trees, flooded roadways and pummeled pedestrians caught off guard by her piercing rains.

Luck certainly was on the side of the large group of PebbleCreek Singles Club members who carpooled from the Eagle’s Nest parking lot to the Stir Crazy Comedy Club in Glendale, prior to the storm’s arrival. After enjoying a night of good food and hearty laughs, the group emerged at 9:00 p.m., after the fast and furious storm had passed.

Noticing some wet sidewalks and fallen tree branches on the way home, it came as a surprise to all that one of the strongest monsoon storms of the season had hit the area and they had laughed throughout the whole thing.

This is just one of many ‘good times’ stories that members of the PebbleCreek Singles Club get to share by belonging to one of the most active and fun-filled clubs in the community.

The organization is 180 members strong. Its impressive all-volunteer Activities Committee plans a full calendar of social, cultural and athletic events every month.

In addition, the organization engages in an annual charitable endeavor, supporting worthy causes throughout the Goodyear area. In 2018, the PC Singles Club is raising money to support the Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) a highly regarded organization dedicated to creating awareness and meeting needs of homeless youth so they can stay in school and graduate. HYC’s long term vision and ongoing goals are to provide homeless teens from the West Valley with housing, basic needs and services as they make positive, life-affirming choices toward becoming responsible, productive adults.

President Frank Rodgers extends a warm welcome to all single residents of PebbleCreek. The next meeting will be held on Sunday, September 2 in the Ballroom of the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse. Vice President and Membership Director Jodie Heinz will be there to register new members and assign mentors who will assist in helping newcomers navigate the activities’ sign-up and payment process.

Registration of new members begins at 2:15 p.m. Sign up for activities and events starts at 2:30 p.m. and a general membership meeting takes place at 3:00 p.m.
