On March 4, Paul Polk made a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at Eagle’s Nest. This was Paul’s first hole-in-one in 24 years of playing golf. He made it during the first round of the PCMGA Member/Member tournament, so he now qualifies to share in the annual hole-in-one prize fund.

The format for this round was a two-man scramble. Paul’s foursome included Dennis Thelen, Stan Lockitski and his member/member partner Denny Howland. The 12th hole was playing 153 yards from the white tee to a middle pin placement. Stan and Dennis hit first. Then Denny, unfortunately, hit his shot in the water, placing some pressure on Paul. Paul, a lefty, hit his shot next, but due to his poor vision, did not see the ball flight. According to Denny, Paul hit a low trajectory shot that faded right to left, but he did not see where it finished.

Paul and Denny searched the area and checked the bunkers, but no ball was found. Denny then checked the hole and said, “Hey, it’s in the hole!” They waited for their playing partners to arrive at the green before taking the ball out of the hole. An amazing shot for sure. It helped his team score the third best round of the day in his flight. Paul said he was happy with the Eagle’s Nest re-design and especially happy the huge bunker on the right of the green was removed.

Paul grew up in Akron, Ohio. He secured his bachelors’ degree at Miami University (Ohio) and his master’s degree in computer science engineering at Santa Clara University. He spent his career in high-tech hardware and software sales, mostly in the San Jose, Calif. area. However, he and his family did spend six years in Singapore and Hong Kong while he serviced the South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Pacific Rim territories.

Paul retired in 2017 and moved to PebbleCreek in 2018. He currently serves as co-president of Lifelong Learning. It seems Paul was destined for PebbleCreek. In Ohio, he attended Goodyear Junior High School, located on Goodyear Boulevard in the Goodyear Heights neighborhood. He was both a Cincinnati Reds fan and a Cleveland Indians fan. Goodyear must be in his blood!

Congrats on his fabulous shot!
