Patty Greene
In what has become an annual event at PebbleCreek, the mahjongg tournament was held in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom on March 5. Hosted by Nancy Hansen, Mary Georgesen, and Patty Greene, 64 players arrived for a 9 a.m. starting time. The game consisted of two hours of play in the morning and then an afternoon session. A buffet luncheon of soup and salad was held between each session with fresh baked cookies offered in the afternoon session.
Sue Fortunato presided as tournament judge, keeping time and ensuring that the rules of mahjongg per the National Mah Jongg League were followed. Tabulation of scores for each player was performed by Nancy Hernandez and Patti Halbmaier.
Scoring was indeed a challenge this year as there were many ties recorded as follows:
3rd Place: Donna May and Stacy Carp
2nd Place: Roberta Ginter and Janis Korba
1st Place: Susie Nash and Chris Dubois
Congratulations to all our winners and to all of you who supported the tournament by coming out to play, loaning card tables, matts, and mahjongg sets. We hope to see you again in March 2021!
