John Boyd

John Warner Boyd passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2018. John was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Z.E. and Helen W. Boyd on January 16, 1943. He was 75 at the time of his passing. John was raised in Covington, LA, where he attended public schools, including Covington High School, where he played both football and basketball. After graduating from High School in 1961, John attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) in Lafayette, LA, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. After college, John joined Chrysler Corporation’s Space Division at NASA’s Michoud facility in New Orleans where he was involved in computer programming utilized in the design, development and construction of Saturn rocket boosters. These included the Saturn V, which provided the main thrust to lift off the Apollo moon missions. This initial assignment sparked John’s interest in computers and their application to manufacturing. After a stint at Chrysler, John moved on to develop his career in computer programming, computer-aided manufacturing and project management with various military and aerospace contractors in Texas, California, Colorado and Arizona. Prior to retiring, John was a Project Management Consultant working with Honeywell.

John and his wife, Elaine, moved to PebbleCreek in 2009. After retirement, He finally had time for his passion for golf. John enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family and playing golf. John was predeceased by his parents and wife, Elaine. He is survived by his brother Mike Boyd and wife Donna of Houston, Texas. Celebrations of John’s life were held in Goodyear, AZ, and Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to a charity of your choice.
