Handmade Pottery class was a mixture of clay enthusiasts

Jeff Wilson

The February Handmade Pottery class was a blend of beginning and advanced clay enthusiasts.

Beginning students learned the tools and techniques necessary to make almost any clay art work. Projects for beginners included a large platter or bowl with appliqued embellishments of birds, geckos, flowers and more. The second project was a luminaria to hold a candle and the third project was a traditional Japanese-style bottle or vase.

Advanced students made projects of their own choosing from a list of suggestions provided by the instructors or ideas gleaned from Pinterest.

Handmade Pottery alternates monthly with the Extruded Clay class.

Signups for all pottery club sponsored classes can be found in the Expressions Gallery in the Creative Arts Center.

Examples of art work created in pottery club classes and club members can be viewed in the display cases outside the pottery room.
