General Manager’s Message

Bill Barnard, General Manager

The end of the summer is near and in addition to hopefully cooler temperatures very soon, fall in the Valley typically means an increase in visitors and homeowners coming to enjoy our milder weather. While things in our world are different than they have been in the past, familiar things like anticipating the holiday season and enjoying all that comes with our cooler weather has me feeling positive about the upcoming months. A couple of things those of us in PebbleCreek can look forward to are the reopening of the Eagle’s Nest golf course, as well as the updated Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse. In my message this month, I would like to update you on both of these exciting projects.

In January of this year, the team at The Oliphant Companies began the massive task of replacing the irrigation system and renovating the greens and bunkers of the Eagle’s Nest golf course. The most significant, time-consuming, and expensive part of the project was the replacement of the irrigation system. Main lines, valves, laterals, and sprinkler heads are all brand new along with a state-of-the-art computer system with single head control to manage the irrigation system. This will give us better coverage and distribution of the water throughout the golf course, while improving efficiency of the entire system. Along with the irrigation replacement, we improved greens and bunkers on every hole. All of the greens were cored out and replaced with new drainage and new MiniVerde grass. The greens have all been returned to their original size and have been re-floated to change contours on every hole. Along with the greens, the bunkers also received a complete renovation. Some bunkers were removed, some were added, and all of them were cored out to replace drainage with capillary concrete liners, re-shaped, and new sand was added. We have changed some of the mowing patterns along the fairways and green surroundings to add some collection areas and different play options, as well as replacing granite in many of the desert areas. While the overall character of the golf course remains, the subtle changes will enhance the playing characteristics of every hole. We think that you will enjoy the difference. We are still on schedule to reopen the golf course in October.

The other major project at Eagle’s Nest is the updating of décor, flooring, lighting, and furniture in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse. Due to the pandemic, the update is not quite complete as we are still waiting for some items, but we have accomplished much of it thus far. Among the changes: carpeting and paint throughout the facility has been updated, furniture in the main lobby and foyer will be replaced, and new lighting fixtures have been installed in the ballroom, dining room, and Palm Room. New lighting for the stage area in the ballroom has also been installed, along with a new stage curtain. Décor and decorative pieces, along with new wallpaper accents in select areas have been updated throughout the building. A new counter was configured at the front desk, and a new countertop and shelving will make the front desk area more efficient. With the improvements of the Eagle’s Nest Fitness Center last year, these updates to the rest of the clubhouse will make this building even more beautiful and enjoyable to use. We are hoping the opening of the clubhouse will come in conjunction with the opening of the golf course this fall.

On a final note, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the community for their support of me and my team throughout the last several months as we have been dealing with issues as a result of the pandemic. As some restrictions have been loosening, we have had some concerned people, even some upset people, but the overall cooperation and understanding of the community at large has been incredible. We are not through this crisis yet as precautions, protocols, and restrictions remain, but if we remain vigilant, we can get through this staying healthy and well.

As always, I hope you are living your best life here in PebbleCreek.
