Expressions Gallery and Gift Shop—Looking Toward the Future

Sherry Blatner

We’re still holding our collective breath over a grand reopening of the Creative Arts Center and the Expressions Gallery. Keep in mind, I’m writing this article, number 49, during the first week of May, so life may change by the time you receive the Post.

I’m going to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the process to become a consignor in the gallery. You only need to reside in PebbleCreek to display your wares for sale. Club membership is not a prerequisite. Request a consignor packet from staff in the gallery. You will be required to provide your social security number as part of the required paperwork. Sales above $600 will entitle you to a 1099 form for federal and state income tax preparation.

All sales in the Gallery are subject to Arizona sales tax, paid by the purchaser, and a 21% fee paid by the consignor. Part of the 21% is provided to the Creative Arts Center for use to enhance the facilities available to everyone. Checks regarding sold items are mailed monthly to the consignor. Making a sale is a tremendously validating experience. Give it a try; you have nothing to lose!

As holidays continue to come and go, celebrate with gifts in the future from the Expressions Gallery. Meanwhile, provide family and friends with IOUs for a shopping experience at the gallery. Remember, we always are fully stocked with jewelry, paintings and prints, glassware, wood carvings, books/cards, ceramic/pottery pieces, doll clothes, knit and crochet items, and quilt and fabric works.

While we are all self-isolating, think of the pleasure you will have in the future if you start a new hobby, join a creative arts club, take a class, and then become a consignor.
