The PebbleCreek Art Club i.ery proud to award Marielle Ramsey Artist of the Month for December. She is an accomplished watercolorist and .alued member of the Art Club. Marielle was born in Berkeley, California and called the Bay Area home for many years. She has five children and six grandchildren who live all over the United States. She’s lived in Maryland for four years, seven years on the island of Crete and then Turkey before coming back to the Bay Area.
Marielle and her husband Mike love to travel. Other than trips to the Bay Area and Montana to see family and friends plus traveling to see their children, they have made many other trips: to Europe, Boston, Plymouth and Washington D.C. Next year they plan to travel to Canada, take a cruise in France and spend 10 days in Avignon. They believe life is short and that they should live it to the fullest.
Marielle and Mike eventually settled in Arizona and lived outside of Sedona for five years; they then moved to PebbleCreek about eight and a half years ago. She has bee.ery active in our community and we are all the fortunate beneficiaries; Marielle has been involved with five plays—acted in three, joined the PebbleCreek Singers, golf groups, putting groups, TTT and the Art Club.
Marielle primarily paints still life and landscapes in watercolor. Ten years ago she attended an art festival and, on the spot, not only fell in love with the watercolor medium but thought, no problem, she could do that too! “Well,” she said, “was I ever wrong!” She soon started to take classes not only in Watercolor but also in Acrylics, Colored Pencil, Zentangle and Pen and Ink. All these opportunities proved to have been a huge challenge but, from among them, Marielle chose to pursue watercolor as her primary medium. The appeal of capturing watercolor’s translucency and the challenge of mastering the dynamics of water flow appealed to Marielle.
