Another Season Of Fun Competition and Support For PC Trichicks

Vicki Carter

What do you get when you mix together 16 fun loving supportive women who are interested in staying fit and experiencing new challenges. The answer is the PC TriChicks, now four years together and more active than ever. Our goal as a group has always been to keep fit and active as we age and to support one another in our endeavors.

Mondays are our training days and we take turns planning the workouts. There is always running, biking and swimming of course, but we are fortunate to enjoy other activities that are good for the body, mind and soul such as yoga, water volleyball, ballroom dancing instruction, fitness scrabble and pool relays.

Many medals were added this season to the TriChicks’ collection in events like the Hot Chocolate 5K and 15K run on December 6, the IMS Half Marathon on February 14, the Arizona Senior Olympics Swim Meet on March 12 and the Southwest Valley YMCA Sprint and Olympic Triathlon/Duathlon on April 3. When not participating in a specific event, we could always count on our chicks to be there cheering us on and applauding our success.

We train hard and we socialize even harder. Creative birthday celebrations with themes of chocolate, hot tubbing, bling, Olympic Tri or whatever is appropriate, have become an important part of showing each other love and support. Of course, holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day are another opportunity to celebrate together.

We enjoyed our first TriChick Bocce Bash at Sunrise Park in Eagle’s Nest with lots of laughs and good food. We don’t limit ourselves to triathlons; some of the TriChicks excel at pickleball, winning medals in that sport as well; others completed the annual Arizona Flats century bicycle ride while others excel at yoga, dancing and golf. We were able to celebrate first grand babies for some and continue to share in the ongoing family joys for all.

PebbleCreek has provided the community in which this terrific group of 16 women can train, laugh, support and succeed in activities that we never thought we would be involved in.
