Roger Uherchik receives a $1,000 check from the Drop-In Tennis treasury to cover a bad investment he made regarding Japanese buried treasure in the Philippines. His only comment was “But they are only a foot away!” Presenting the award is self-appointed party coordinator Lou Tronzo.
Tom Gildersleeve receives a pound of red clay dirt from Tennis Court 1 (his favorite court). As of April 22, the clay courts (1 and 2) are no more as they are being replaced by hard courts similar to courts 3, 4, 5 and 6. Please find a special place on your mantle for this piece of history, Tom!
Bob Pinto receives the Hard Serve Award – although Most Colorful Tennis Dresser might have been more appropriate!
Jim Martin receives the Best Overhead Smash award. However, consistent with his generous and humble nature, he declined to take this prestigious award home.
Ken Minichiello, President, Coordinator, Scheduler, Problem Solver and Complaint Resolver receives a small token (cash no less!) of appreciation from the Drop-In Tennis players. Thanks for a great job, Ken!

Wednesday evening April 16, 2014, in the early evening hours, the Men’s Drop-In Tennis players and spouses celebrated with an End of the Season Fling (in fine style) at Sunset Park in Eagle’s Nest. Approximately 70 members and guests enjoyed some wonderful home cooked delicacies and spirits! Not only were the food and booze great but so were the Bocce and Horseshoe competitions. No one kept score which was consistent with the spirit of the regular Drop-In games (although competitive, emphasis is primarily on camaraderie, conversation and coffee!).
