PebbleRock Pickleball concert

Pancho Epstein

October 26 was a beautiful, warm Sunday.

The Arizona Cardinals had just upset the Philadelphia Eagles.

Then the real action began.

PebbleRock opened the second annual PebbleCreek Pickleball Club Concert with the classic song Old Time Rock and Roll and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. that’s exactly what approximately 400 club members and friends did on the back lawn of the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse. The golf course and lake created a magical backdrop to the music.

The dancing began in daylight, floated through twilight and ended in nightlight.

During the evening of libation and food, some of the music played by the five piece band was Bye Bye Love, That’ll Be the Day, I saw Her Standing There, Hello Mary Lou, Brown Eyed Girl, Runaround Sue, The Twist, Catch Us if You Can and Stand by Me.

The concert closed with a classic rendition of Twist and Shout, which is what had been going on all evening.

Members of the band, which is made up of Creekers, are Gene Fioretti (retired cardiologist) keyboards, Ted Moran (retired insurance executive) guitar, Robert Hover (retired lithographer) guitar, Howard Brodbeck (retired engineer) drums and Steve Jensen (retired radiologist) bass. Steve is also a member of the Pickleball Club.

Much thanks to the Pickleball Concert Committee and all the volunteers who made October 26 a memorable evening of old time rock and roll with a taste of western thrown in.

And members can’t wait until next year and the third annual PebbleCreek Pickleball Club Concert.
