Zumba class performs at 10th annual Parkinson event

Muriel Kuhl

The Parkinson Network of Arizona (PNA) held its tenth annual Walk the Fight for PD fundraiser February 6, 2016, at Tempe Beach Park. This is the largest Parkinson’s walk in Arizona. Approximately twelve hundred participants walked or ran a 5k or a two block route around Tempe Town Lake, raising close to $100,000.

There was also a movement stage featuring three exercise demonstrations: Zumba, Dance for PD and yoga. Six Zumba class participants were invited to perform by Georgie Kuhl, a Zumba instructor and Dance for PD teacher. The group’s energy had people moving and shaking and joining the dance party on stage!

The Zumba group also danced alongside seven dancers from the Dance for PD program as they performed dances to three songs. This is the second year a group from PebbleCreek has been invited to perform.

A big thanks from the Parkinson community to these Zumba ladies for volunteering their time, energy, skills and big smiles!
