WomanHeart speaker for Heart Month – February 17

Nanci Rusty Rinehart

Dr. Jennifer Bellingrodt, psychologist, will be speaking at the WomenHeart discussion group on February 17 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 100 at the Activity Center in Eagle’s Nest. She will be speaking about the difficulty of accepting the reality of having a heart disease. Some people who have or have had problems with heart health simply push such unpleasant memories aside, pretending all is well and will never cause any future difficulty. Or perhaps a family member has had heart disease and the possibility of having the risk factor of heart disease oneself is too worrisome to consider. Statistically women with heart disease or the risk of it are much more likely to have future heart problems. Acceptance of this fact is the first step in changing other risk factors that may cause a tendency to be one of the women who die from heart disease. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in women, far more than such illnesses as cancer. February is the month for Valentine’s Day but also for focusing on heart health. Red is the color of valentines and the Red Dress program which urges women to take a more proactive effort toward heart health. Join us in the WomenHeart discussion group that afternoon from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. to hear an enthusiastic and supportive speaker encourage women to take an aware and more accepting view of the urgent need for improved and preventive health care. The meeting is free and welcomes all interested women to join in. For further information call Rusty Rinehart at 623-215-3629 or [email protected].
