Unit 20

Shawnee Robison

On Thursday, January 7, 2016, the PebbleCreek Unit 20 ladies hustled in to Ruby Tuesdays for our monthly luncheon! Despite the inclement weather, all 18 of us had a marvelous time getting caught up on everyone’s holiday happenings. Our hostess was Elaine Yielding, who showered us with praises, presents and best wishes for the New Year! We decided who would be hosting our future luncheons and heard the minutes from the last meeting.

The food was excellent and our waitress, Robyn D., took extra special care of us throughout the afternoon. Then, with her steady hand, and my Galaxy Note 5, she managed to get all of us in the picture! Thank you, Robyn! Thank you, Ruby Tuesdays!

Unit 20 would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of you in our lovely PebbleCreek! Have a wonderful 2016, everyone!

Unit 6

Sheila Jacobson

On December 16 there was another fun filled afternoon of Unit 6 residents. Each participant brought a wrapped tacky gift. Some weren’t tacky, which makes the gift stealing fun. About 40 of us enjoyed a cool, yet sunny, party out on the patio of the home of Unit Rep Sheila Jacobson and her husband Steffen. The laughter and gift stealing went on for hours. We all contributed to a feast of more than enough appetizers and Christmas goodies. Everyone went home with full tummies and gifts worthy of keeping. Or, perhaps we’ll see some again next year!

Not to be forgotten was our November activity, a delicious chili cook-off. There were seven participants with very different chilis that were voted on.

The non-chili cooks brought all the extras needed to complete a great chili meal and then some. We’re never at a loss with food in this Unit! The winners, Tom Johnson and Pam Murphy, won the fun battle with a fabulous Chili Verde. The prize was a $5 Starbucks gift card and a Golden Ladle wall certificate.

We all look forward to the next Unit social activity!

Unit 8

Jane Holdcroft

Unit 8 celebrated a Christmas Party at Jane Holdcroft’s home. This is the tenth year we have met for a Christmas potluck and conversation. Unit 8 ladies meet once a month for lunch. We also have a book club where any lady of Unit 8 is welcome to attend. The books and hostesses have been chosen for 2016. If you are a resident of Unit 8 and would like more information on lunch or book club please contact Jane Holdcroft.

Unit 52

Liz Gibson

The PebbleCreek Unit 52 Ladies who Lunch enjoyed their first luncheon of 2016 at the very popular BJ’s Restaurant and Brew House on Wednesday, January 13. The 20 ladies were hosted by Claudia Gouronc who was celebrating her first anniversary luncheon to the date after moving into PebbleCreek.

The busy year is just getting underway with the Social Committee, chaired by Leann Drummond, meeting Saturday, January 16 planning the four major parties for the coming year. Luncheons are held every month except December on the second Wednesday.

The unit is getting close to being filled, with four new builds in progress and two resales that have moved in.

Unit 58

Tawny Eakin

A group of residents in Unit 58 took on a project to make this past Christmas special for three Goodyear families. Through the City of Goodyear, Sue Bohl and Donna Malinowski heard that these families needed clothes for nine children-—six girls and three boys—aged five through eleven years. The children needed everything: jackets, shoes, socks, underwear, shirts and pants. Sue and Donna spearheaded this very successful clothing drive. Word was sent out to the neighborhood about this unofficial unit project. Many people participated by donating the needed new clothing as well as making generous financial donations. Special thanks to Luella Thurston and Donnis Hilton for their excellent shopping skills and tireless dedication. Thanks also to all who so generously donated their time and money to find and provide each of these children with new clothes.

With the money left over after clothes shopping, each one of the three mothers was presented with a gift card for holiday grocery shopping.
