Unit 15 happy hour

Many new and longer-term residents got to know each other and had an awesome time. This will be the first of many activities. Contact Wendy Stofa at [email protected] if you didn’t receive information and you live in Unit 15!

Unit 19 Fall Breakfast

Barbara Risden and Donna Frole

Unit 19 celebrated getting to know each other on Sept. 25, at our fall breakfast at Eagle’s Nest Restaurant. We had a record number of people who were either new to the unit or had never been to one of our events before. Twenty-five residents were able to attend; however, some left before our picture was taken. Everyone enjoyed socializing with others, and the food was fabulous as usual.

Unit 20 luncheon

On Oct. 9, 22 ladies of Unit 20 held their October luncheon at Taste of Italy located on Estrella Pkwy South. They serve true New York style Italian food and atmosphere. It was so good that many ordered food to take home for dinner. Thank you, Claudine & Maureen for choosing such an authentic pizzeria, as a fantastic time was had by all.

Be sure to save the date of Dec. 12, for the Christmas luncheon at Olive Garden.

Unit 37 luncheon at the Reserve

Our Unit 37 October Ladies Luncheon was held at Robson Reserve. We gathered in the beautiful lobby and then were escorted to the third-floor game room. It was the perfect place for the 23 gals to fill the room with sounds of conversation and laughter, and we were able to catch up on all our summer activities. After enjoying a delicious lunch, we were given a tour and saw all the wonderful amenities that are available there.

Unit 51 Ladies’ Luncheon

September brought in the new season for our Unit 51 monthly Ladies’ Luncheons, and our hostess, Sharyl Perkett, chose to stay “close to home” for this first one. On Sept. 12, us gals enjoyed a delicious lunch at Red’s in the Wigwam Resort. Many of our neighbors have not yet returned, but we were pleased to have 13 ladies attend our gathering, where we shared our summer adventures, looked forward to the active months ahead, and were happy to get back together again! Many thanks to Sharyl who provided each of us with an autumn bag of goodies, including pumpkin M&Ms and a little straw scarecrow. Smiles and laughter were shared by all!

Unit 52 Ladies’ Luncheon

Unit 52 had a fun luncheon on Sept. 19, at the Eagle’s Nest salad bar. Following lunch, there were a variety of games available for play.

Those who played mahjongg had help for the beginners from Meg Chrisman and Peggy Taylo. Hostess for the afternoon was Rhae Jean Magnuson.

The second Thursday of the month Ladies’ Luncheons have continued in the autumn mode. On Oct. 10, Dede Harrington and Dee Domingo hosted at Tempo Bistro in Verrado. Twelve ladies, some of whom we hadn’t seen since before summer, came together for our gathering, so there was a lot of catching up to do. Besides the delicious meals enjoyed by all, our lovely hostesses didn’t disappoint. Along with the festive fall table decorations, they gave each of us a bag filled with yummy candy and homemade cookies. What a pleasant surprise! As always, Unit 51 looks forward to our monthly luncheons!

The ladies who lunch in Unit 52 had a delightful afternoon at the Verrado Golf Club on Oct. 9. The weather was perfect, and the food and service excellent. Again, we enjoyed a mix of newer residents and “originals.” The hostess for the luncheon was Hilary Fiscus.

Unit 52 is looking forward to its annual fall party, a fiesta between two homes, on Sunday, Oct. 20. Cocktails, sangrias, and finger food will be served starting at 4:30 p.m. Social Chair Rhae Jean Magnuson and her committee have planned the event.

Unit 53 happy hour

David and Betty Jean Kennedy hosted the Unit 53 happy hour on Sept. 22 in their home. Neighbor friends got to see some of Betty Jean’s outstanding artwork she creates at the PebbleCreek Art Center. There were more than 25 guests who enjoyed an evening of friendship and good food. Everyone brought a drink and dish to share.

Unit 62A gets creative

Gary Bomar

Thirteen budding artists went to the U Create Art Center and participated in an acrylic pour paint class. Although none of the participants had any experience in acrylic pour, the creations made by each artist were amazing, and everyone who participated in the class had a lot of fun. We intend to do this again as another unit activity because it was so much fun.

Our last outdoor pool party of the summer was held at the Oasis Pool, and we had a pizza party along with all sorts of tasty desserts. The monthly men’s breakfast and women’s luncheon were held and were well attended, as were the mixed hand and foot night and the mixed Mexican train night. We continue our community outreach by volunteering monthly at St. Mary’s Food Bank in Surprise.
