Unit Happenings

Unit 8 luncheon

Ladies from Unit 8 in Eagle’s Nest gather at the Verrado Country Club for their May luncheon.

Unit 27A Scatter Lunch

Camille Grabb

The temperature reached three digits in Unit 27A, so it was time for the ladies to gather for lunch on April 23 at the Eagle’s Nest before many folks scatter across the country or simply plan to travel to the nearby pool searching to keep cool!

Thirteen neighbors reminisced about another wonderful PebbleCreek winter season enjoying many family and friends visiting us from “snowy and colder” places so we could share our sunshine and warm weather.

Before we know it, fall will return and the neighbors will, again, gather with lots of summer stories to share…ah, the retired life!

Unit 40 residents enjoy  End of Season party

Trevor Ballinger

Another year has gone by and it was time for our seasonal friends and neighbors to say goodbye for the summer. On April 28, 2018 we held our yearly End of Season Party. This year it was held at the Oasis Pool, which turned out to be a superb venue for the occasion. The event was well attended. We enjoyed great food, fun and catching up.

Big thanks go out to our very active social committee, Arlene Silverman, Cindy and Jeff Young, Sherry and Dick Atwater, Helene and Jerry Hausner, Alice and Charlie Miller and Keith  Passafiume.

Unit 51 Ladies’ Luncheon

Janet Miazga

Our May Ladies’ Luncheon took us on a new adventure, something out of the ordinary, thanks to our hostess, Irene Gonzales. Fifteen of us joined in the fun at Hayashi Japanese Restaurant on Litchfield Road, watching our table chefs entertain us while preparing our delicious entrees right in front of us. We welcomed Barb Ranta’s friend, LuAnn, visiting PC from California. Though this was our last regularly scheduled unit luncheon until September, a few of us non-snowbirds may sneak in a few get-togethers before then. Here’s wishing all of Unit 51 a safe, healthy and fun-filled summer, wherever you may be!

Unit 53 Happy Hour

Sandy Stephens

Steve and Lynn Manns hosted Unit 53’s May Happy Hour at the Oasis Pool on Saturday, May 12 on a comfortably warm afternoon. Everyone brought food to share and whatever they wanted to drink and the food stretched from one end of the long counter to the other. It’s impossible to get a group photo as everyone was spread out enjoying conversing with friends and meeting new neighbors who are fast learning they have moved into a unit with people who are there for each other whether in time of need or  just to socialize.

Unit 54 Ladies’ Breakfast

Barbara Dunson

Fourteen ladies in Unit 54 enjoyed an early morning breakfast at Eagle’s Nest dining room on April 20. Lively discussions on how to entertain ourselves indoors and outdoors with the coming of summer heat seemed to be of prime interest. Looking forward to next month’s salad luncheon hosted by  Barb Dunson.

Unit 58 Women’s Brunch

Nancy Debrincat hosted the Unit 58 Women’s brunch on April 19 at the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant. Approximately 25 ladies attended the morning get together to eat, visit and bid farewell to those unit members that are headed back north for the summer.

Unit 58 Happy Hour

Susan Jackson

Bobbie and Mike Slaughter hosted the Unit 58 Happy Hour on Monday, April 23. A beautiful backyard, great weather and wonderful appetizers made for a great gathering of friends and neighbors.

Unit 64 Ladies’ Luncheon

Mary McFarland

Italian? Greek? American? Eighteen ladies from Unit 64 enjoyed these lunch menu selections at Dino’s on April 18. Talk centered around our upcoming summer plans. Many are headed to cooler climates, traveling worldwide or just enjoying summer in Arizona. It is always fun to gather with neighbors for lunch.

Unit 62A happenings

Barb Downey

Unit 62A had another great month of activities in April! This is a very active unit with an outstanding social committee that keeps us entertained and challenged every month! At this time, we have one lot left and one spec home in our unit. To all the new residents building on Sheridan Street, please know that you are very welcome to join any and all activities during your design and building process! We’d love to meet you and have you join our fun group!

We started out the month of April at the last Pub Quiz Night, where our team was quite proud of the number of correct answers we achieved with the tough trivia questions! Our ladies played spirited games of Hand and Foot twice this month, and had a fabulous lunch (and shopping, for some!) at Blanco in the Biltmore Fashion Square. The men’s breakfast was held at Richie’s Diner in Surprise and they enjoyed it so much that they’re returning in May!

This month we supported Bruce Banks and Steve Gonzales who worked on the set design of 9 to 5, the Musical, with dinner at Red’s at the Wigwam, attending the show together and then some additional libations at the home of Lynn and Bruce Banks! Definitely a fun evening!

Our group also went to the Mesa Swap Meet for the end of season bargain hunting, where many great deals were found, followed by a wonderful lunch at Liberty Market in Gilbert! It was a great way to spend the day with friends.

Even though some of us have lived in the Phoenix area for a while, the Trolley Tour event, by Phoenix Rising Tours, was an outstanding learning experience! We took a two-plus hour tour on a wonderful, air-conditioned trolley through the downtown and neighborhoods, with a fabulous guide who really knew her Phoenix history and landmarks. After the great tour, we continued the fun with lunch at Hanny’s in downtown Phoenix.

Our April Happy Hour was hosted by Renee and Terry Fisher. Along with the delicious food (and beverages!) we enjoyed a beautiful sunset and lovely evening both inside and outside! We also celebrated the April birthday of Mike (Spike) Razem.

Our 62A athletes continue to make us proud! The PC Men’s Golf Association had a fundraiser for Kare Bears and first place, blue tees, flight 2 was won by our very own Mike Christensen, Charlie Newcomer and John McCrickard! And, a very special congratulations to Mike Christensen for his hole-in-one on hole no. 8 on the Falls course to close out the month of April! Congratulations!
