The record breaking, 97° temperature, did not deter 14 lovely Unit 8 ladies from their appointed monthly luncheon at The Haymaker on Litchfield Road. Our eve.igilant hostess with the mostess, Jane Holdcroft, greeted us as we entered the private dining room. With her ever present smile and a name badge for each one of us, Jane informed us of the new member in our unit. We did a Round-Robin introduction as John, our waiter, took our orders from Chinese Chicken salad to grilled salmon on a bed of sautéed spinach!
Jane then announced the up-coming events our unit is participating in as well as the dates for our next monthly luncheons and possible Couples Night, happy hours and the 2017 Christmas Party, December 12 (location to be announced later), so watch your emails!

Unit 23 Halloween highlights

They did it again! Neighbors and friends of the residents of the 149th Lane cul-de-sac in Unit 23 of Eagle’s Nest dressed up and celebrated their third annual Halloween Party on October 31. Fun neighbors, great costumes, appetizers, taco bar and crazy games. What more do you need to make a Halloween party a success.
Unit 40 welcome back party

A record 55 neighbors attended at the Calder’s home. A wonderful time was had by all.
Unit 52 ladies luncheon

The Unit 52 Ladies who Lunch enjoyed their monthly luncheon on the Toscana Patio Wednesday, November 8. The weather was perfect and the food and service excellent.
Unit 52 is delighted to be near completion, with one new build and three more lots sold. Our final event of the year will be the annual Holiday Party December 3 in the Tuscany Falls Chianti Room – always a festive occasion.
Unit 43B holds annual potluck

In late afternoon, on a perfect fall Saturday, 65 Villas residents gathered for the third annual Villas Potluck Block Party. And what a potluck party it was — with everything from shrimp cocktails to sweet and sour pork with fried rice, French brie and fig tartlets, Cuban sandwich sliders, macaroni and cheese, salads galore, more meatballs than anyone could count, deviled eggs, chicken wings, dozens of desserts and much, much more!
“At our first Villas Potluck Block Party in 2014, when we just had a few residents, we had a lot more chips and dip and cheese and crackers,” laughed organizer Wanda Guidry, “It was all good, but now that the Villas are sold out we’ve got a lot more wonderful dishes to choose from. We’re lucky to have such a diverse group with such great palates living in the Villas!”
Tanja Tanner from the Goodyear Fire Department, offered tips and advice on home safety and accident prevention; representatives from the Goodyear Police Department stopped by with giveaways and door prizes and introduced three young members of their Law Enforcement Explorer Program. The young explorers are getting exciting “hands-on” career experiences by combining classroom training, ride-a-longs in polic.ehicles, participation within the Goodyear community, team building opportunities, shooting at the range and much more. Residents were also treated to a gripping dog “take down” demonstration by Josh White and his dog, Rudy, of the Goodyear K-9 Unit.
Unit 51 luncheon

On November 9 Nelda Peterson and Linda Schmidt hosted our Unit 51 luncheon in Scottsdale. This time of year Arizona weather is most enviable – bright, sunny, with perfect temps for us gals to party. North Italia restaurant set aside a private room for us and their staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The ambiance was tres chic, the menu was exciting and reasonably priced. Everyone knows how talented women are with multitasking, so combining a trip offering delicious cuisine with fabulous shopping is a win-win. We’re happy to report that even with car-pooling we didn’t lose anyone along the way—we left with our bellies and arms full of goodies and our shoppers didn’t gain an ounce but actually lost a few pounds ($$). Linda and Nelda, please take a bow for all your hard work making these arrangements and getting us all back on the road to new experiences.
Unit 52 patio party

More than 60 party-goers from Unit 52 enjoyed a fun evening at the Clubhouse Grill Outdoor Patio on Sunday, October 22. The party was planned by Social Chair Nancy Rosenfeld and her committee.
The weather was perfect, Italian lights twinkled, and the waterfall added to a terrific atmosphere. The space was great for moving around and chatting with everyone and we were delighted to have a good number of our “originals” as well as new residents.
Most arrived wearing their favorite sport’s team attire, which was quite a mix. The buffet was hearty with .ariety of choices and the service superb. It was a wonderful evening.
Unit 53 happy hour

Larry and Jan Eidt hosted our Unit 53 October Happy Hour at the Oasis Pool October 24. The weather was perfect and the turn-out great. Larry and Jane provided Hebrew National hotdogs, buns, catsup, mustard and relish for all and “chef” Jeff Braun worked the grill. The long bar behind the grills was lined up from one end to the other with delicious side dishes. A table loaded with desserts had a cake in celebration of Skip Gault’s birthday along with a basket of cards for Skip. There were a dozen residents who did not stay dry but opted to jump in the pool and splash around with friends.
Unit 53 luncheon

Twenty-two gals from Unit 53 made the trek to Verrado for lunch at the Verrado Club Grill Monday, November 6. It was a beautiful day for eating out on the patio overlooking the water and golf course and being treated to a coupl.isits from a roadrunner checking us out for the possibility of a free lunch. Joan Amet and Brenda Rollogas hosted our November luncheon and asked fo.olunteers for the coming months.
Karen Knadler, for years, has done an outstanding job of spearheading Unit 53 luncheons to find hostesses and arrange transportation but, after so many years, she has relinquished that role to Richard Lundgren who is not only a computer whiz but has become such an integral part of Unit 53. Thank you, Karen, for all your years of support and thank you, Richard, for your willingness to take over for Karen. If not for Rosalie Pyle who was our Unit Representative for over five years and Karen Knadler who put together a roster of all current and new residents we would not be the cohesive unit we are and enjoy today.

Unit 55 A Villa residents held a Meet and Greet potluck Friday, October 27. Candi Kloberstrom organized the event and about 50 Villa residents met at the Oasis pool.
Unit 58 highlights

Just in time for the return of our first group of snowbirds, Unit 58 celebrated the beginning of fall with their latest community “social hour” on Thursday, October 19. This time, th.enue was the home of Ed Raker and Lynn Jacobson at 16470 W. Almeria Road.
Turnout was great, with over 40 in attendance, and the array of appetizers, snacks and desserts was fabulous. Some highlights were homemade smoked salmon from Jack Papazian, a delicious quinoa and kale salad by Wendy Warrington and Swedish meatballs from Susan Jackson. But the range of delectable went almost from A to Z, potstickers to pastries.
As usual, the format was that each household provides a food item to share, as well as the beverage of their choice. This makes it easier for the host and hostess from having to do all of work or to bear the expense. But special thanks go out to Mary O’Brien for going beyond the call and staying afterward to help with cleanup.
In any case, we expect the tradition to continue. It’s a great way to socialize and form bonds among neighbors. After all, in PebbleCreek, it’s safe to say that we’re all much more than neighbors.
Unit 58 men’s breakfast

The men of Unit 58 had another get-together, enjoying breakfast at Eagles’ Nest restaurant on November 3. The breakfast has become a monthly happening and attendance continues to grow. Fifteen hungry guys came to this one, not hesitating to give each other some good-natured ribbing while they downed their bacon, eggs, pancakes and such. And a lot of common interests were shared in the process. The event is open to all men in Unit 58, so spread the word among your neighbors. Unit 58 lunch
Twenty-two ladies from Unit 58 met on Thursday, November 2, to enjoy lunch and conversation at Mimi’s Cafe. It was nice to get back in touch with many of our snowbird friends and neighbors.
Unit 61 welcome back luncheon

Unit 61’s Social Committee, headed by Kathy Gorchesky, organized the perfect Welcome Back Luncheon. Over 70 neighbors enjoyed themselves in the Chianti Room on September 16. Good food and great company were an unbeatable combination. Everyone had a chance to catch up after the summer, welcome our new neighbors and a lucky few went home with raffle prizes.
