The UPS Store has a special deal for you

Rayma Scalzo

Doug Johnson, owner of The UPS Store on Indian School Road and Litchfield Road (by Safeway), is so generous to the residents of PebbleCreek. For the second straight year, they will print copies of the “Directory of Services” for us to purchase for the low price of just $1! Yes, 43 pages for only a $1. The store has the original and all you have to do is request a copy of the directory. Such a deal! What’s more, it has just been updated as of February 1, 2019.

This directory is not to be confused with the Robson Source Book™. It is a compilation of resources provided by residents on the PebbleCreek egroups, speaker presentations, facilitators and members of support groups, Area Agency on Aging, lists from organizations specializing in seniors and resources obtained from research on the Internet.

Some of the resources provided by residents are home watch, home maintenance, pet services, seamstresses, transportation, errands, visits, caregiving, etc. There are mobile resources including doctors and dentists who do house calls for the homebound, dry cleaning, golf cart services, grocery delivery, massages, meals, salon services and pharmacy delivery. Then there are outside community services including Area Agency on Aging, attorneys, baby equipment rentals, financial/estate planning, funeral homes/cemeteries, government agencies, home maintenance, hospice, hospitals and urgent care centers, laboratory testing and radiology, meals, medical and non-medical home care, medical products, physical therapy, pick-up and delivery of goods, prescription relief, rehabilitation, respite, senior housing and Yana. There are valuable resources from the web which include nutrition, clothing for the disabled, credit reporting, identity theft, medical alert products, medically related newsletters and support/programs/products for a variety of diseases and much more.

Last but not least are the free services that Kare Bears provides. These include: loan of medical equipment, transportation to medically related appointments, Share Bears and a medical library with many resources. In addition to that, Kare Bears provides a variety of health events throughout the year including the Health Fair.

As you can see, the “Directory of Services” can be used by everyone; young and old, ill or healthy and in some cases, the support/products/services area can be used by family and friends all over the country. It is available for viewing and printing at www.karebears.org. There are also copies for viewing at both libraries. The one at Tuscany is located in a red binder in the center of the library on a small oblong table and the one at Eagle’s Nest is just to the right as you enter the library. You can also get a hard copy of the directory at the Guest Services Desks at either clubhouse for around $4.50.

Please note that the inclusion of an organization or service does not imply an endorsement of the organization or service, nor does exclusion imply disapproval.

IMPORTANT: Each individual using this directory is responsible for vetting the resources. Please view the disclaimer on the front page of the directory.
