Despite the heat of the Arizona summer, PebbleCreek tennis players refuse to give in to the scorching temperatures! By mid-July we had 50 plus days over 100 and more than half of those days were over 110! Add in the court temperatures and those of us who stay here in the summer are hearty to say the least. Or maybe we’re crazy!

Nonetheless, the Tennis Club hosted its first summer social on June 9: Margarita Meltdown! Over 40 players participated for an evening of tennis under the stars playing from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In July the club hosted Tequila Sunrise the morning of July 15 with early play from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m.! Over 25 players participated in fun mixed doubles followed by a light brunch and very cold drinks!

The Tennis Club takes off August. There is no social and there is no Board of Directors meeting. Even though the monsoon kicks in during July and August, lots of groups still play throughout the summer. The Amigos (a men’s doubles group) still fills a couple courts four days a week. Men’s Drop-in is also very popular in the summer. Several women’s doubles groups play early too with some starting at 6:30 a.m. to beat the heat.

As September rolls around, the club will host a welcome back social for all those snowbirds that have fled for the summer. For those who have endured our Arizona heat, play hard then go home and drink (water, that is!)!
