State Parties – June 2014

The Dakotas

Patti Wegehaupt

The Dakota people did it again! Yes, they gathered and celebrated the glory and honor of being from the Dakotas. There were as many people at the party as were in each state on Wednesday, April 16. Well, maybe not quite. Fun was had by all who attended the event. It was great to meet our friends from the Dakotas who now live in PebbleCreek either full time or as snowbirds. One thing is for sure, we are all proud of the Dakotas and ready to share our stories with everyone. Special appreciation to Jim and Markeeta Bundschuh, Joan Martin and Jack Brown. A big thank you to the committee of Diane Brown, Gloria Reister, Vonnie Erickson, Nancy McSwiggan and Patti Wegehaupt.

Oregon/Idaho

A little breeze never scared Orgonians or Idahoans away! Good thing because that’s what we had at the annual Oregon/Idaho 2014 Gathering. Breeze and a lot of socializing with old friends and meeting new ones.

On Sunday afternoon, April 13, the group gathered at Sunset Park at Eagle’s Nest. College colors and logos – Broncos, Ducks and Beavers – were everywhere as were the yummy appetizers everyone brought to share. The challenge of the afternoon was the Idaho/Oregon Trivia Quiz prepared by Linda Adams and John Flynn. The afternoon was wrapped up with some wild games of bocce ball.

Thanks go to the event organizers Lucy Saling and Betty Tomtan aided and abetted by their long suffering husbands Neil and Tom.

Oh, can you name the first elephant born in captivity in the Western Hemisphere? This will give you a head start on the 2015 PebbleCreek Oregon/Idaho gathering.
