The PebbleCreek Gun Club had its 2015 Spring BBQ picnic from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Sunrise Park in Eagle’s Nest with 120 members and their guests attending and eating the delicious BBQ pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, hominy, mashed potatoes, corn, collard greens, baked beans with Dutch oven apple pie and cherry cobbler topped by ice cream and whipped cream – all washed down with two kegs of beer, ice tea, lemonade and water. During the Spring BBQ, club shooting trophies are awarded.

The raffle for the Bushmaster AR 15 A3 Patrolman rifle was won by Ms. Christina Johnson.

Three club members distinguished themselves by their shooting prowess: Kevin Christian was awarded four trophies for his excellent marksmanship in pistol (rimfire), pistol (centerfire), rifle (rimfire) and rifle (centerfire). But the undisputed club champion was, once again, Richard Cameron. Richard was awarded four first place trophies for his marksmanship in pistol (rimfire), pistol (centerfire), rifle (rimfire) and rifle (centerfire). He shot a perfect score of 400 out of 400 possible points and had 22 in the x ring; an amazing feat, especially when you are pushing around 84 years of age.

Tim Hamilton set the example for all club shooters to follow by his perseverance and determination in trap and skeet shooting. When Tim first started shotgun shooting, his scores were low enough to make you want to quit, but Tim never did and took a third place trophy in skeet shooting. Actually, any time you can shoot and can break 20 or more clay targets out of 25 targets, you are doing quite well. Tim now averages around 20 in both trap and skeet shooting. Tim was awarded trophies for the Most Improved Shooter in Trap and Skeet and Tim also received the President’s Award for the club member that contributes considerably to the gun club by serving as the Range Safety Officer (RSO) at the Phantom Skeet Club at Luke Air Force Base. It is because Tim is willing to go pick up the keys to open up and prepare the skeet club for members, mostly shooters from our club, and then reloads all the clay bird machines and closes up the club every Wednesday morning for the past two years. This is a thankless job and yet he and his wife Judy usually bring coffee and donuts for all the shooters. Tim enables all the skeet shooters from our club and the Phantom Skeet Club to have a venue to shoot skeet less than 10 minutes from PebbleCreek. We salute Judy and Tim Hamilton.
