Something for Everyone – February 2015

Nancy Herrem

Do you know the difference between trap, skeet and sporting clays? I don’t; but I bet I could learn by joining the PebbleCreek Gun Club.

The club was formed out of necessity after the inter Robson Communities competed in the Robson Trap Trials in February 2010. No organization had been formed, but a group of PebbleCreek trap shooters represented PebbleCreek at the Trials and actually won the competition. After winning they were supposed to host the following year’s Trials but to do this, they needed to be an officially approved Club. Henry Tom was elected President of the newly formed PebbleCreek Gun Club in May 2011, with 17 members and the club has continued with a current membership of 205.

The mission of the PebbleCreek Gun Club is “to promote the participation of PebbleCreek residents in the enjoyment of all forms of recreational shooting” and it offers a Basic Handgun Class to its members once a month October through May. The club also arranges training and certification to acquire an Arizona Concealed Carry Weapons permit. This is a permit to carry a concealed handgun; however, it is possible to carry a concealed weapon without this certification in Arizona. The permit, however, is recognized in 35 other states.

Club activities include: Rifle and Pistol Shooting, Shotgunning, which includes trap, skeet and sporting clays, Hunting, Self Defense and Education and Training.

Family and friends of members can participate in club shooting events as guests.

Visit the clubs website at www.pebblecreekgunclub.org to download the HOA Waiver and the current annual Gun Club Waiver Release and Dues Statement. The completed forms, along with a $30 per person check made payable to PebbleCreek Gun Club should be forwarded to Ms. Kathy Fredo, Treasurer (see Source Book). The clubs Membership Card also enables you to receive a $100 discount off a Shooter’s World membership; a safe, modern and air conditioned indoor range.

Check out the PebbleCreek Gun Club’s website for a full list of activities or contact President Henry Tom at 480-980-8715 or at [email protected].

Oh, and by the way, those Robson Trap Trials that started all of this has been won by members of the PebbleCreek Gun Club the past four years. They will be taking aim (pun intended) at the fifth Robson Trap Trials this spring, hosting the event at the Casa Grande Trap and Skeet Club.
